Erê Lab is a company that creates and develops objects designed to encourage children to interact and participate through games and play. Our interactive objects can be in small, medium and large areas, through contemporary urbanisation combined with Brazilian spirit and tradition, offer a place for interactions and socialization in daily life. We want to save from vanishing,a tradition of playgrounds in the houses, gardens, squares and public spaces of the cities. We desire to recover and strengthen the sense of citizenship, so people, parents, children and surrounding community, interact among themselves and also with the city.

Manifest

Since childhood we listened to the stories about things that we have never seen, but we imagined them. We were afraid of monsters, of thunderstorms, to look under our bed, afraid to make mistakes. Some of these fears stayed with us and prevented us from taking important steps further on in life. Why do we stay afraid? Because we were taught to act that way in our childhood? So why do we keep teaching our children to be afraid, why do we limit them? Why not change something?Why not teach them to create powers against the legions of monsters that freeze their courage? Because they do have the power to change the world around them! Imagine what could be created by imagining only the best? We believe there is nothing stopping us to build another future for our children, using our imagination. We create, knowing that we actually have ability to make a change and we strive to perfection because we know it is achievable. We believe in a democratic world and it's an urgent need to form new leaders who understand the importance of horizontal relations. The Project Ere Lab wants to create a world of true happiness. A world which we take pride in ourselves. On tolerance, healthcare, environmental awareness, citizenship and care for the future generations. In order to do that, we need to change the way of raising our children, and the best way of raising and teaching them is through play, encouraging their imagination. We researched what type of skills should be supported and nurtured through a childhood, so we can give our children best references and tools to create a harmonious world. We also asked ourselves, what do the children of the 21 century want and need? Ere Lab proposes, through the playing experience, a reference to a better world for everyone, even for those that from an early age have to deal with difficulties. The man of our century has the ability to build, to create unique things. Ere Lab puts together new technologies, access to information and curious and creative essence of man. We want to create a place that gives something more, that gives experience of the city and art intertwined. Let's open the door of the dream place in reality! A better world is possible. It already exists in our dreams, in our imagination. Now it is time to turn it into reality!

How we do

Ere Lab is a project of creation and implementation of recreational spaces for children with a focus on early childhood. We have accomplished since our founding in 2014, more than 70 free public events and developed 7 permanent recreational spaces in Brazil. We work with concepts of brazilianness, seeking the meaning of playful contemporary Brazilian furniture, thus creating a sense of belonging of the child and community strengthening a more tolerant society.

Why we do

In Brazil, there is no investment in public design for children since the 1970’s. We played on the same equipment where our grandparents. Today a child spends an average of 5 hours a day in front of a TV and shows high levels of obesity. So how to offer creative alternatives for these children to play in affective public spaces that develop their motor and cognitive side facilitating the interaction between the city, community, parents and caregivers. We create playful spaces with Brazilianness, developing parameters for public policies to be improved.

Who we are

Roni Hirsch

Erê Lab was born from the artist's concern about the future of the cities and children. To provoke the transformation through the use of form, materials and spaces where the equipment is inserted. The artist went on to study the topic of how to add the fun to the spontaneity of the streets with a Brazilian way.Wrote the Manifesto for 21st Century Child, creating a base citizen culture for the future. He joined to this feeling a new aesthetics of children's toys, making use of various materials (experiences of his 20 years of experience with scenography)."Erê Lab was conceived to be appropriate by the user, bringing the look, touch and the participation of people passing by. Everyone is a members of Erê Lab.".
